This workshop introduces the basics of SideFX Houdini through simple simulations and gradually moves toward more complex systems, showing what the software can achieve. It then shifts focus back to control and art direction—how to shape and use simulation detail intentionally—while adapting to the participants’ skill level, with no prior Houdini experience required.
Participants will learn the fundamentals of SideFX Houdini, including its interface, core principles, and basic simulation workflows.
Also how to control complexity and use simulations purposefully for clear, intentional art direction.
No prior knowledge of Houdini is required. Familiarity with 3D graphics concepts is an advantage, but not necessary.
The workshop will be adapted to the skill level of the participants.

Designer, 3D animator, and CGI director. Matěj has been using SideFX Houdini for longer than he can remember, creating both author-driven experimental films and high-end commercial work. He collaborates on global campaigns with renowned studios, most recently with XK Studio in London, where he has worked for clients such as Apple, Nike, and Swatch. At the same time, he equally enjoys working on cultural projects—for example for the Gerrit Rietveld Academie, CAMP, or Ankali.
